Arts Initiative Student Arts Grants

Need funding for your student-created arts projects? Want to host or produce a visual arts exhibition? Write and edit a literary publication? Collaborate across disciplines to stage a theater production?

Each semester, the Arts Initiative administers Student Arts Grants (commonly known as the Gatsby Grants) to help fund non-curricular student arts projects that are accessible to the Columbia community.

Past projects have included concerts, dance performances, literary publications, musical theater, photography exhibits, and visual arts events, among many others. Click here to see a slideshow of recent projects.

University-recognized students groups, non-recognized groups, and individual Columbia students are eligible to apply. Applications are reviewed once per semester per group/individual applicant.

Applications for fall 2017 projects will be accepted starting Tuesday, September 5 and must be submitted at least 3 weeks before the event date or by a final deadline of Friday, October 20.

We will hold an information session on Friday, October 6 at 2:00 pm in Dodge Hall 413. Join us to learn more about the process and what makes a strong application. First-time applicants are especially encouraged to attend. RSVPs recommended:

The application is available in PDF format. The sample budget, which follows the required template, is available as an Excel spreadsheet.
