Located in the Lower East Side, Shin Gallery is a contemporary art gallery with an international agenda. Since opening in 2013 our programming has consisted of experimental and interactive installations to promote young artists as well as frame historical works in new contexts. Our upcoming exhibition, Hobby Shop, will include works by Chris Burden. Shin Gallery is looking for a responsible and engaged individual who is eager to learn in a fast paced environment. A successful candidate will possess multitasking capabilities and creative problem solving skills. He or she will take initiative when required and be highly independent. The candidate will take part in various aspects of the gallery's daily operations, including curation, research and writing, sales and marketing, Social Media management and design. Familiarity with Adobe PS/AI/ID and the Microsoft Office Suite is a plus. He or she should be knowledgeable and passionate about the contemporary art world, and possess an ambitious, organized and resourceful work ethic. The internship responsibilities will include general gallery maintenance, front desk duties, data entry, art handling, research projects as well as opportunities in sales, curation and marketing. Interns will gain valuable experience in assisting with client and artist relations and planning for exhibitions, events and art fairs. The position would start immediately and last as a three month long commitment.
