The Arts Initiative at Columbia University is a pioneering venture designed to make arts and culture a meaningful part of every Columbian's experience. Founded in 2004, our diverse programs encourage students, faculty, and staff to experience the creative life of the campus, engage with the cultural riches of New York City and the wider world, and create art and performance. We are currently seeking part-time student employees to join our team of dedicated arts professionals.  Must be an enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at Columbia University with a strong interest in the arts.  A high level of energy, initiative, and creativity is essential.
 

The Arts Initiative’s Ticket and Information Center (TIC) is an in-person and online box office located on campus in the lobby of Alfred Lerner Hall. The TIC sells discounted tickets to on-campus and off-campus events and is looking for friendly, ambitious, and organized student staff to help run the box office.

Wage/Salary:  $14.50 per hour
Schedule:  7-10 hours per week; Including evening and weekend shifts

Responsibilities:

  • Sell tickets to on- and off-campus events
  • Provide information about all resources and services offered by the Arts Initiative
  • Answer questions and offer information about the arts on campus
  • Assist in other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at Columbia University
  • Strong interest in the arts, with a high level of energy, initiative, and creativity
  • Ability to master web-based ticketing system required, experience with OvationTix or similar software preferred
  • Prior box office, retail, or customer service experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to handle busy selling times with skill, ease, and a smile
  • Comfortable interacting with a broad audience – students, faculty, and the public
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing assignments
