Family Films: Figuring out Feelings

Enjoy new and classic family-friendly short films, engaging discussions, and suggestions for follow-up activities in the Museum’s galleries. This program is for individual families of up to two adults and up to three kids.

Tickets: Free tickets are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 10:00 a.m. on the day of the program at the reception desk in the Education and Research Building, at 4 West 54th Street. Tickets are also distributed at the information desk in the Museum’s main lobby.

Rosie's World – Gone Away. 1999. Scotland. Directed by Lynn Wiseman. Rosie is eight years old. When her best friend Sean moves away, Rosie must come to terms with the sudden change in her life. 9 min.

The Time-Out Chair. 2002. USA. Directed by Josh Selig. A young girl leaves her preschool classroom to explore New York’s East Village, dragging her time-out chair behind her. 6 min.

Adventures of Owen. 2010. Canada. Directed by David Cadiz. Owen, a socially awkward young boy, finds he can express himself through his drawings of Spaceman X and his adventures on an alien world. As he faces the realities of a demanding household and bullying classmates, he comes to realize what is important. 14 min.
