Open SourceMusic Festival

Influenced by the phenonomen taking place in technology, Artistic Director, pianist Joel Fan say’s “Open source is the simple idea that we share our creative work, and allow others to build upon it freely. The Open Source Music Festival takes its inspiration from the collaborations and connections between artists.”
The daylong concert event explores groundbreaking creativity of todays contemporary and electronic music. Pianist Joel Fan will premiere new works from composers Augusta Read Thomas, Bernard Rands, Evan Ziporyn, Christine Southworth, Julia Wolfe, Michael Gordon, Anthony Cheung and Wang Lu.. Also performing are the NYC garage band Cellar and Point, electronic luminaries Teengirl Fantasy and ADR, the JACK Qt, baritone Jeffrey Gavett, TIGUE percussion, jazz guitarist Ben Monder, and cellist Jeffrey Ziegler of the Kronos Qt. in a solo performance.
