SYMPOSIUM: Who is Jack Goldstein?

This extended day of discussion brings together a number of artists that emerged alongside Jack Goldstein in the 1970s with a focus on the legendary Pictures exhibition curated by Douglas Crimp in 1977 as well as the influential post-studio classes of John Baldessari at the California Institute of the Arts in Los Angeles where Goldstein received his MFA. Panel discussions will examine the particular circumstances of the art world during the 70’s and 80’s along with the impact of the Pictures Generation on artists today. Artist and filmmaker Morgan Fisher will present the keynote lecture and panelists will include artists Robert Longo, Matt Mullican, Troy Brauntuch, and Kathryn Andrews among others.
