The Whitney seeks talented people of all backgrounds and abilities to join one of our public facing teams for the upcoming Andy Warhol retrospective and our 2019 Biennial exhibition.

Basic Requirements:

Friendly, outgoing, and professional attitude
Genuine interest in public facing visitor service interactions
A minimum of 1-2 years public facing customer service experience
Excellent communication and listening skills
Ability to stand for extended periods of time
Must be able to work at least two of the three following days regularly: Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Interest in arts and culture a plus
B.A. preferred, but not required
Bi-lingual a plus


We are seeking staff to fill positions in the following areas:

Visitor Services Assistants (Seasonal): Sell admission and program tickets and work in partnership with the Membership Department to increase museum revenue by implementing onsite fundraising strategies. VSAs will assist with daily operations in the lobby, indoor and outdoor admissions lines in all weather conditions, and coat check. Strong sales experience and cash handling skills plus previous point of sales experience required.

Membership Sales Specialists (Seasonal): Work alongside the onsite membership team in the Museum lobby. Membership Sales Specialists will gain Museum fundraising and operations experience while working in a fast-paced, high volume environment. They will be tasked with meeting sales goals by acquiring new members; canvassing indoor and outdoor admissions lines in all weather conditions; greeting Museum visitors and providing information about Membership; and assisting during evening membership events.

Gallery Assistants: Join the team responsible for creating a warm, welcoming and accessible environment in our Museum galleries. Engage visitors in conversation about the Museum’s exhibitions, respond to visitor needs in a friendly, knowledgeable, and professional manner, and work to ensure visitors understand and adhere to Museum policies while onsite.
