Special Programs

Connect with the arts in your everyday life and meet other like-minded people from campus through a variety of Arts Initiative programs and meetups, from tours of New York City museums to backstage tours and talkbacks.

Programs include:

Museum Meetups

Join fellow Columbians for an up-close look at special museum exhibits around the city and beyond. Enjoy rare access and exciting conversations with fellow students and faculty. Since launching in 2011 at the Studio Museum in Harlem, Museum Meetups have grown to include events at Asia Society, The Jewish Museum, Dia:Beacon, Storm King Arts Center, and more.

Columbia Nights

Connect with other Columbians while enjoying exciting performances plus behind-the-scenes opportunities at discounted prices. Past events have included talk-backs with Broadway stars and exclusive backstage tours of major New York City performing arts venues.

Morningside Lights

Help create a fleet of lanterns during a week of workshops that culminates in a striking illuminated procession of public art in Morningside Park. Morningside Lights is an annual free weeklong arts event led by the directors of Processional Arts Workshop, Alex Kahn and Sophia Michahelles, and produced by Columbia University's Arts Initiative and Miller Theatre.
