The Arts Initiative exists to spark arts interest and meaningfully connect Columbians with incredible arts experiences on campus and with the larger arts landscape of New York City. We enhance and promote the vibrant arts community at Columbia. The Arts Initiative’s Ticket and Information Center (TIC) is an in-person and online box office located on campus in the lobby of Alfred Lerner Hall. The TIC sells discounted tickets to on-campus and off-campus events and is looking for friendly, motivated, and organized part-time student employees to help run the box office. Must be an enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at Columbia University with a strong interest in the arts and availability on afternoons, evenings, and weekends. A high level of energy, initiative, and creativity is essential.

We seek one individual to join our team for Fall 2025.

Wage/Salary:  $16.50 per hour
Schedule:  6-8 hours per week, must be regularly available on evenings and weekends

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the positive image of the TIC as a welcoming and lively campus resource
  • Sell tickets to on- and off-campus events, with a positive attitude and a genuine interest in helping others
  • Follow operational policies and procedures for box office, credit card, and cash handling operations
  • Provide information about the programs and services offered by the Arts Initiative
  • Answer questions and offer information about the arts on campus
  • Assist in other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled undergraduate or graduate student at Columbia University
  • Strong interest in the arts, with a high level of energy, initiative, and creativity
  • Ability to master web-based ticketing system required
  • Prior box office, retail, or customer service experience strongly preferred
  • Ability to handle busy selling times with skill, patience, and a smile
  • Comfortable interacting with a broad audience – students, faculty, and the public
