UNBOUND: Music by Women Composers Since the Age of Enlightenment is a program of works for flute, voice and piano by women composers, several of whom faced significant barriers in having their compositions performed and being recognized as serious composers. The program includes works by Anna Bon di Venezia, Isabella Colbran, Pauline Viardot, Cécile Chaminade, Marion Bauer, Florence Price, Margaret Bonds, and Margarita Zelenaia.
Zephyra is a New York–based trio comprised of mezzo-soprano Anna Tonna — hailed as a “warm, secure” (New York Magazine) “mezzo Heroine” (Rossini Gesellschaft), flautist Laura Falzon — hailed for her “expressivity” (Fanfare) and “versatile technique” (Musical Times), and pianist Olga Gurevich — praised for her “rare verve, musicality, and outstanding technical skills” (Moscow Times). The trio is dedicated to presenting thematic and adventurous programming exploring repertoire from historical as well as contemporary composers, drawing from Western and non-Western traditions alike.
