A virtuosic bassoonist, conductor, and core member of the International Contemporary Ensemble, Rebekah Heller is celebrated for reimagining the bassoon’s possibilities through adventurous performances and groundbreaking commissions. In this Pop-Up Concert, she performs a program of new music for bassoon choir by composers from the African Diaspora, including the world premiere of Righteous Rage by Brittany J. Green, which was inspired by and is in direct conversation with another work on the program, Julius Eastman’s The Holy Presence of Joan d’Arc (originally for 10 cellos).
Sit onstage and enjoy a free drink during these hour-long weeknight Pop-Up Concerts, and mingle with the musicians and fellow concertgoers after the show.
