About The Performance

Yefim Bronfman plays a new concerto written for him by Elena Firsova, which the composer describes as a reflection on “the mystery and meaning of death.” Brahms’s lyrical gifts are on full display in his spirited First Serenade. Also on the program are two works by Ligeti: his tribute to Romanian dance music and an early work never before heard in the US.
