About The Show
Experience the multitalented Camille Thurman, a formidable saxophonist and a recent second-place winner of the prestigious Sarah Vaughan Vocal Competition. She has performed extensively with artists ranging from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis, Dr. Billy Taylor, George Coleman, Lew Tabackin, and George Benson to Chaka Khan, Alicia Keys, and Missy Elliot.
In addition to being a respected composer, Thurman is known for her stylistically varied mix of classic repertoire that highlights her chops as both a singer and instrumentalist; recent albums have records featured songs by Sarah Vaughan, Wayne Shorter, Wes Montgomery, Jimmy McHugh, Milton Nascimento, Hoagy Carmichael, Cole Porter, Angela Bofill, and others.
The best way to experience the full scope of Thurman’s artistry is to catch one of her performances as bandleader, such as tonight’s showcase with her regular working band, the outstanding Darrell Green Trio.
