About

An international touring artist and celebrated accompanist, her current projects include the shoegaze duo Deerlady, the Julia Keefe Indigenous Big Band and her eponymous free-jazz ensemble, making its Lincoln Center premiere at the David Rubenstein Atrium. Obomsawin's music liberally references her Native heritage and the challenges of realizing freedom under colonialism while challenging listeners with expressive harmonies.
