Exhibition Details

There is no mistaking the work of Marlon Mullen (b.1963). His vibrant paintings, with their lush surfaces and bold color, expand the long-standing tradition of making art about art.

Mullen uses art publications and other print material as points of departure for his paintings, generating radical reimaginings of these sources in which text and image are transformed through his dynamic color and composition. This is the first solo exhibition of his work by a major museum.
