About The Performance

Style: Western Swing
Dance Instructor: Susanna Stein
DJ: David Muzii

Lincoln Center’s free dance classes and concerts as part of the Social Dance at The Oasis program signal the return of the much-loved outdoor summer series to New York City. Professional teachers will get you prepared to move and world-class artists will give you the perfect opportunity to show off your skills. Start out this rootin’ tootin’ salute to the tradition of Texas Swing with a free dance class that will teach you the basics of two-step and swing. Next, put your freshly learned moves to use in service of songs from the vibrant and versatile master of Black Americana, vocalist Queen Esther, joined onstage by the performance artist Synead Cidney Nichols and the enchanting jazz singer Kat Edmonson, for a concert of Western Swing music in the spirit of the great Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys.
