Event Details

The foundational four core elements are acknowledged as essential in every culture, each capable of infinite creation and apocalyptic wrath. This program focuses on the elements of Fire and Water.

The element of Fire is represented by Akshaya Tucker's haunting Hollow Flame and Dmitri Shostakovich's searing String Quartet No.8.

The two-part program concludes with the element of Water, as represented by Conrad Tao's enchanting Undone and Osvaldo Golijov's stunningly gorgeous Tenebrae.

Comprised of violinists Johnny Gandelsman and Colin Jacobsen, violist Nicholas Cords, and cellist Michael Nicolas, Brooklyn Rider's gripping performance style and unquenchable appetite for musical adventure have firmly established them as a singular force in the world of string quartets over their two decade history.
