About The Performance
Classically trained but forever true to her Cuban roots, Aymée Nuviola’s singing won her the televised reality show Todo el Mundo Canta when she was only a teen, earning her the sobriquet “La Sonera del Mundo.” Nuviola grew to become a leading light in Cuban contemporary jazz and timba musical movements, blending traditional sounds of son Cubano with contemporary salsa and American R&B. Nuviola has won multiple Grammy Awards, most recently the 2020 Grammy for Best Tropical Album. A beloved live performer, philanthropist, and actress – who may be seen in the role of her spiritual predecessor Celia Cruz on the Netflix telenovela Celia – Nuviola’s October 21 ¡VAYA! show is a tribute to the music and glory of Cruz on what would have been the late icon’s 97th birthday.
This event is free and open to the public. Seating and entry are first-come, first-served; the line will form at the Atrium’s entrance on Broadway, between 62nd and 63rd Street.
