About The Performance

The virtuosity of the NY Phil musicians is on display in Richard Strauss’s tone poem depicting the (in)famous libertine, Don Juan, and in Rachmaninoff’s beloved suite of orchestral dances. At the center of the program is the exuberant Concerto for Two Pianos, composed for Katia and Marielle Labèque by Bryce Dessner, the Grammy Award-winning classical composer and founding member of the band The National. Dessner is known for his collaborations with some of today’s most creative and respected artists including Sufjan Stevens, Taylor Swift, Bon Iver, Nico Muhly, Steve Reich, Philip Glass, and Paul Simon.
