About The Performance
Enjoy a free, Saturday-afternoon salsa concert at Al Quiñones Playground, formerly Playground 52, featuring Bronx native Johnny Mambo and several of his longtime musical collaborators with singer Don Sonero. Mambo’s band is propelled by the energetic rhythms of hard-driving bongos, congas, and timbales, punctuated by biting brass, that transport listeners to a San Juan dance club. All are invited to come and enjoy themselves at this outdoor event, as this group—according to its members—“performs for the audience: the dancers, the salsa lovers, the jammers.”
