About The Event

Thomas Crow, Rosalie Solow Professor of Modern Art, NYU/Institute of Fine Arts, explores how Bridget Riley found the catalyst for her signature mode of art–along with its first, electrifying exposure–in a highly idiosyncratic venue. But Victor Musgrave’s Gallery One formed a crucial bridge between old Bohemian London and the city’s emergent 1960s sensibility, a transition in which Riley’s painting played a key part.
