Danibel Bretón, also known as La Barbie del Acordeón, is a highly skilled singer and accordion player from Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic. She is a leading exponent of the traditional merengue típico, which is considered to be one of the most popular and cherished musical genres in the country. La Barbie has earned a well-deserved reputation for her exceptional talent and mastery of the típico genre, particularly in the performance of the accordion, an instrument that is typically dominated by male performers. She has achieved a level of recognition and success that is rare for female musicians in this genre. In this summertime social dance, La Barbie will showcase her repertoire of both traditional and original songs, transporting the audience to the vibrant and dynamic cultural landscape of the Dominican Republic—followed by a late-night silent disco. Grammy-winning Carlos Cruz, known for his collaborations with Marc Anthony, Fito Páez, and Paulin Rubio, keeps the party going into the night.
