About The Event

Water is all around The Met—in its iconic Plaza fountains, the water features that dot the galleries, and even beneath the Museum, where a network of natural springs flows alongside the Old Croton Aqueduct, the waterway that allowed New York to flourish. In Hydro Parade, artist, choreographer, and dancer Madeline Hollander takes inspiration from The Met’s many water sources, staging a durational performance that travels a meditative, rhythmic journey around the Museum’s water features. With a continuous stream of movement that flows between the galleries, Hollander connects the ancient waterways that lurk below the Museum to the buzzing activity within its walls.
