About The Performance

Ravel’s tribute to the Viennese waltz accelerates with chaotic energy. Richard Strauss composed Metamorphosen as a memorial for a culture ravaged by World War II. Violinist Leila Josefowicz, a champion of living composers, is the soloist in Luca Francesconi’s flamenco-inspired concerto; the composer describes the Duende of the title as “a subterranean force of unheard-of power that escapes rational control.”
