About The Event

Join El Museo del Barrio to celebrate a day honoring the memories of ancestors, family traditions, and the power of women storytellers, inspired by the new exhibition, Amalia Mesa-Bains: Archeology of Memory, a retrospective by the pioneering artist, curator, and theorist. Born in 1943 to a Mexican immigrant family, Mesa-Bains is a leading figure in Chicanx art for nearly half a century, producing work that explores intersectional feminist themes, environmentally centered spirituality, and cultural diversity.

Throughout the day, explore the exhibition with free gallery tours, then meet in the Cafe on 104th Street for art activities, storytelling and dance workshops, and more.
